SEQDBTOGCG

FUNCTION

SeqDbToGcg converts the SeqDb database distribution files into a database in GCG format.

DESCRIPTION

SeqDbToGcg converts the distribution file of the SeqDb database from the Protein Research Foundation (PRF) in Osaka, Japan into a GCG format sequence database.

The SeqDb database is distributed several times per year as a set of new entries, and occasionally as a full database. At Embl we keep the database as a set of releases from the time of the last full release tape, and use a file of database names to point to each of the individual databases.

A script to automate the database conversion is in seqdb.
