Away out here they've got a name for cold and wind and rain:
It's Erice, it's NMR, it's marsala time again.
In Erice the science is a ramdom walk through errors.
In Erice the great minds meet - of knowledge they're the bearers.
In Erice, in Erice, the lecturers are terrors!

Before I heard of energy and landscapes ever changing,
I dreamed of new protein designs - sequential rearranging.
But then one day I broke my key; I couldn't get inside -
And now I pray to Jean-François and Oleg be my guide.
In Erice, in Erice, the scientists preside.

By day we sit in lecture hall; the slides glow bright or darkley.
The lights go out, the school kids gawk, is it Galilei or Markley?
Though chemists are all out of date, Bill Lipscomb's there to guide us.
We do not care to speculate with lecturers beside us.
In Erice, in Erice, the Grappa is inside us.

In Erice, we'll come back some day, la Citté della Scienza.
