Payroll Deduction (You may request payroll deduction if you receive a bi-monthly payroll salary (usually from a P.I.'s grant).
Stanford I.D. Card: Stanford Identification Cards are available to registered student (including postdocs), employed staff and faculty. As soon as you have been processed through the Postdoc Affairs Office you can go to the first floor of the Old Union, Room 140, between 8:00-12:00 and 1:00-5:00 to have you photo taken and card made. The procedure should take about 10 minutes. Please check with Toni or Todd before going over to the Old Union.

If you are paid on P.I.'s grant or gift account, then you will receive bimonthly checks from Payroll. Paydays are as follows:
From the first to the fifteen of the month, payday is the 22nd of the month.
From the sixteenth to the end of the month, payday is the 7th of the following month.
These checks clan be automatically deposited into a bank account. This process can be done via the internet at direct deposit online
If you are paid from a fellowship or training grant processed through Stanford, you will receive your check from the Bursar's Office at the end of the month. These checks CANNOT be automatically deposited.
All checks and mail will be placed in B-300.

TELEPHONE & XEROX ACCESS CODES:
Ask the secretary of your lab for these code numbers. These are changed on regular basis and we ask that you not share these numbers.
To use the telephones, dial 9 to get an outside line. An access code is required for long distance calls and faxes.
CALIFORNIA DRIVER'S LICENSE:
Having a current California driver's license is almost essential in order to obtain car insurance and to cash checks. The most convenient DMV (Department of Motor Vehicle location is on Showers Drive in Mountain View).
Directions to Department of Motor Vehichles: from Stanford campus, go south (or make right turn from Palm, Galvez or Serra) towards San Jose. You will pass Page Mill Road, Charleston/Arastadero Road and San Antonio Road. As you pass San Antonio you will see a shopping center with a Payless and Walmart. The next light is Showers and you will go left. The DMV is in the second block on the right.
