Operating the Syquest 270 MB mass storage system
There is a Syquest 270 MB drive attached to turn.stanford.edu. This drive holds a 3 1/2" 270 MB removeable cartridge that can also be read as a Macintoch file system.
READ THIS FIRST!
- Format the cartridge on a Macintosh first!
- This way it can be read on both an SGI and a Macintosh
- Use the Syquest for storage (Archiving data)
- There is only one drive and many people will want to use it to store and
retieve data.
- DON'T FORCE THE EJECT!
You MUST unmounted it first using a the software interface -- then and only then can you eject it using the lever on the drive.
DISCLAIMER The interface for operating of the syquest is horrendous! It can be very frustrating, but it does work!
