Munzer Networking

There are Ethernet connections in Munzer. Up on the right hand side of the stage, you will find two brass floor outlets. If you open the lid of the right one, you will find your 10Base T network connections. You have to bring your own network cables ( Stanford Bookstore or Fry's sells them).

Important Note : The 10BaseT connections in Beckman Center use standard Ethernet connections (not USOC). If one of the RJ-45 floor outlets doesn't work, try the other one.

After plugging in your computer, you must make sure that your machine's TCP/IP connection is set up for BootP (from the Mac TCP/IP Control Panel or the Windows Network Control Panel).

If the computer you are using has used BootP somewhere else in Beckman, then the machine can use BootP in Munzer Auditorium. If the machine is a new one, or from outside of Beckman, then the IP address has to be manually entered.

The IP address that can be used is:

IP Address

171.65.20.174

Subnet Mask

255.255.0.0

Gateway

171.65.20.1

DNS Addresses

171.64.7.55
171.64.7.77
171.64.7.99

Make these changes, reboot your machine, and it should work.

Another important note - It's a good idea to drop by a day ahead of schedule and test out everything. You never can tell what can happen.
