"Undergraduate research"
My professor, Dr. Irene Evans, just purchased 20 micro arrays to perform the first array experiments in an educational setting here at RIT. I was asked to participate in the research along with Dr. Evans and another student.
We have no idea what to do. Because we know very little about this technology, it is up to myself and the other two women to come up with a protocol that can in the future be used to educate undergraduates in this new technology. We were thinking along the line of something very simple, such as yeast proliferation.
We have all of the necessary protocols to create the array, the problem is that we don't know what to look at. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to what metabolic process we can study. Will proliferation yield a simple enough array for undergraduate studies? Our arrays are the mini version and have 60 yeast genes, of which the origin I am not yet sure.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Kate
