"Help needed on prices"
Hi,
can anyone help me regarding the typical cost of a fluorescence DNA array system (including the laser and detector systems). Also if anyone has any idea of how many of these there are world wide that'd be great.
Please email me: glanfieldar@cardiff.ac.uk
Regards
Andrew

The most common system used with MGuide style arrayers are the GenePix 4000A or 4000B scanners by Axon Instruments (http://www.axon.com). A page on the 4000B scanner can be found here: http://www.axon.com/GN_GenePix4000.html. Based on information on their web site, it costs $55,000 (US Dollars) and comes with three dongles (copy-protect hardware keys required for using the accompanying software). Additional dongles cost $5,000 each.

Hope this helps.

Packard also makes a very nice confocal scanner (formerly GSI Lumonics): http://www.packardbiochip.com/products/scan_features.htm
Not sure on the prices for these.
