"How big the gif file should be?"
Hi,
I installed SMD on a linux box (redhat 7.3). When I submitted an experiment, the gif file generated is as large as about 50MB. Is this normal? The slide has 8K spots. We used GenePix. The info from tiffinfo is as following:

Hi Chunxu,

How big were the tif files? I think you must be scanning at a higher resolution than we do. Our tif files are normally ~30MB each, and they produce a gif in the 5-10MB range,

Cheers,
Gavin

Hi Gavin,

Thank you very much for the info. The tif files are ~80MB. I think the resolution is too high, and changed it from 2000pixel/cm to 200pixel/cm using convert. But after run through createGIF.pl, the gif file is still the same size. I guess convert does not change the header of the original tiff info.

Chunxu
