Frontiers in Bio (ChE 459) is poorly coordinated. The lack o
f online (axess) or on-site (auditorium door) notes explaini
ng that the lectures will not take place until next week mig
ht have caused a loss of student interest. Several of us wen
t to attend the course this Monday and Thursday, only to be
left wondering why noone else showed up. Sure, now that I
look on the Bio-X website, I find some relevant info, but t
he first sources most students consult are the printed and o
n-line course handbook and time schedule. That's where some
sort of reference should have been included to makes student
s aware of the fact that this lecture doesn't take place eve
ry week, and that they better consult this website. Best
regards, Sebastian

A map of where the seminars happen would be useful. I can't
find the Terman Auditorium, much less the Terman Building f
rom any site! Your instructions would be quite useful if wr
itten on the email reminders for the seminars..

I am a beginning Ph.D. graduate student with a B.S. in Mater
ials Science, with a minor in Bioengineering, from the Unive
rsity of Pittsburgh. Here at Stanford, I am taking most o
f my classes in the MSE department. However, I am also a for
tunate 2001 recipient of a dual SGF-Whitaker Fellowship, and
I want to find out more about different research groups con
ducting bioengineering research here at Stanford.
