Where & when is the class held?

The course is held in room M112. (The building is also known as LANE or Medical School building.)
This course meets three times a week from Sept. 27 thru Dec. 10, 2004.
Class times are Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays 1:15-2:45 PM

 

 

What is the format for this course? 

• Lectures will be scheduled for 80 min, but lecturers are encouraged to not fill all of this time, to leave generous time for questions and for ensuring that the important, new concepts are conveyed to students at all levels.
• There will be five problem sets through the course. They are due at the start of class on the specified day. The final problem set will entail describing a molecular approach to a problem of interest to you.
• Grades will be based mainly on these problem sets; course participation. Course participation during lectures and in discussion sessions is also expected for a graduate level course.
• Notes will be handed out at the start of each lecture.
• Students are encouraged to ask questions at the beginning and throughout each lecture.Ample time has been allotted for questions within the schedule.
• Do not hesitate to contact any of the instructors or the TA with any questions related to the course and material covered.
• Have fun and learn a lot!

Will class be held during "Dead" week?

During "Dead" week, students will be working in groups on projects to be presented during the final week.

 

Is there a final in this class?

There will be a final problem that will be presented by the groups.

 

What grading options are available to me? 

You will receive +/- if you are a medical student or a Sat/NC if you are a non-medical graduate student and choose not to receive a letter grade or teh corresponding letter grade if you choose to opt for a letter grade.

 

Where can I see the lectures if I missed one? (Refers to 2003 quarter only!)

The course director arranged for taping of the sessions for ONLY the following dates: Oct. 3, Oct. 6, Oct. 8, Oct 10 and Nov 3. These dates were based on religious holidays and conferences that are conflicting with the normal class schedule.
