These pages describe how to connect your Macintosh or MacOS-based computer to the SUNet network from an off-campus location using a modem over standard telephone wires.

1.
Get a Leland Account
Besides a modem and a computer, to connect to the SU network you must have a Leland account. Leland accounts are available for registered students, postdocs, approved visiting scholars, faculty and staff. If you are not a student or employee of Stanford University, you can obtain a sponsored Leland account. Information regarding Leland accounts is located here.

2.
Get Open Transport or MacSLIP
If you have ever used your Macintosh to connect to a network using a modem you probably already have this software installed on your computer. Otherwise, select this link to learn more about Open Transport and MacSLIP.

3.
Configure Open Transport or MacSLIP

Instructions for configuring Open Transport or MacSLIP to dial in to the network.
